Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion is a procedure to remove dead skin cells on the surface of the skin, which contribute to the production of a protein called collagen. The skin shrinks, tightens and develops a lift-like effect.

After a course of treatments, the formation of cells in the deeper layers of the skin is improved, the general circulation of the skin is enhanced, the skin becomes more elastic, smoother, redder and the skin’s self-renewal functions are accelerated.

Dermabrasion can be performed anywhere on the body, but is most commonly performed on the face and neck. The treatment is not painful and is more like a relaxing massage.

Dermabrasion is recommended if:

  • Dry or oily skin;
  • acne, especially in adolescence;
  • scars, stretch marks
  • sclerotic skin (very thin, yellowish, very aged skin, with sclerotic processes in both the blood vessels and the skin);
  • pigment spots of various origins (as a result of the sun, acne, etc.);
  • various skin irregularities (slightly wrinkled skin on the face, but not pimples, scars);
  • fine lines (large and deep lines can be reduced, made more inconspicuous, but cannot be completely eliminated by this method);

The procedure is carried out with a device that removes dead cells using a vacuum and an abrasive tip or dermabrasion crystals, while the living and healthy cells remain intact. The vacuum intensifies the process, making it deeper and more effective.

Dermabrasion is not recommended if:

  • the problem area is very close to or on a mole;
  • there is an undiagnosed skin condition;
  • a non-healing pimple, rash;
  • an acute skin condition such as a newly developed allergy;
  • a recent course of treatment with AHA-containing preparations.
